WAUPUN — The Waupun prep boys basketball team shot out to a 27-point first-half lead and with balanced scoring the entire way won easily over Winneconne on Thursday night, notching a 71-38, East Central Conference victory. 

The Warriors — who are ranked fourth in Division 3 according to the WisSports.net Coaches Poll — had double-digit scoring efforts from Trevor Vande Zande (15 points), Marcus Domask (12), Owen Theune (11) and Conner Kamphuis (11).

Domask — who is currently leading the conference at 25 points per game — also added seven assists and four rebounds while Vande Zande had three assists, four rebounds and three steals.

Theune led the Warriors with eight rebounds while he, Keegan Hartgerink and Reece Homan all had three assists apiece. Homan also chipped in with eight points and six rebounds..

The Warriors are now 7-0 overall and 3-0 in conference while Winneconne falls to 0-5 and 0-3.

Next up for Waupun is a game against Milwaukee Pius XI Catholic next Wednesday at Concordia University in Mequon in a game played as part of the Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Shootout.
