The Baraboo/Portage boys hockey team completed a successful run through the three-day, three-game Culver’s Cup Tournament in Madison with a 3-2 victory over Madison Memorial on Saturday evening.
The victory gave coach Jason Laux’s team a third-place finish in the eight-team tournament. After winning two of three tourney games — with its only loss a 3-2 decision against eventual tournament champion Monona Grove on Friday — Baraboo/Portage improved its overall record to 6-3.
Brett McCutchin scored one goal and added two assists for Baraboo/Portage, which took a 2-1 lead after one period and expanded its edge to 3-1 in the second period.
Tyler Laux and Steven Mordini added goals for Baraboo/Portage, and Adam Stanton had an assist.
Shane Supple and Jack Andringa scored for Madison Memorial. Sean McCutchin made 18 saves in goal for Baraboo/Portage.
Baraboo/Portage returns to action Thursday with a 7:30 p.m. home game against Oregon.
