Oshkosh OKs Public Enemies filming

OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) — City leaders in Oshkosh gave their formal OK to let Universal Pictures transform the downtown back in time for filming the 1930s era movie "Public Enemies."

"No parking" signs were already blocking off parts of North Main Street for the project by the time the Common Council unanimously approved the deal Tuesday.

The filmmakers agree to pay for any expenses resulting from filming. The city agrees to work with Universal in using parts of the downtown to make the film.

Johnny Depp stars in the film as bank robber John Dillinger, who was killed by FBI agents in 1935 in Chicago.

Filming started last week in Columbus north of Madison.
