OSHKOSH — Brandon Waas scored a pair of goals after halftime as Mayville took Thursday's 4-2 Flyway boys soccer win at Oshkosh Lourdes/Valley Christian.

"I am very pleased with our game," Mayville coach John Veling said. "There is still much needed room for improvement but what I am sensing is very promising.

"We still have time to work out all the bugs."

Gus Frank headed home Adam Porter's shot just two minutes into the contest. Frank returned the favor nearly 11 minutes later, setting up Porter to double the lead.

Waas converted just 2:20 into the second half with Nick Perry on the assist. Frank beat the defense before laying off to Waas for the finish to ice the game with 1:50 remaining.

Paul Giese made 15 stops for the Cardinals (2-0 Flyway), who visit St. Mary's Springs Tuesday.
