Cross country: Dornfeld paces Trojans

POYNETTE — Dodgeland's Lydia Dornfeld took seventh place with a time of 17 minutes, 34 seconds at Thursday's Poynette cross country invitational. Dornfeld's efforts paced the Trojans to a fifth-place run (133 points) in the girls race. Kayla Schmitt was 19th (19:19) followed by Jessica Spern in 37th (21:26), Jackie Wolff (22:21) and Cassie Kane in 40th (23:40). On the boys side, Jacob Olson ran a 20:25 to finish 14th as Dodgeland's top finisher. Dylan Jones was 28th (21:49) followed by Dustin Joswick in 32nd (22:09). Rounding out the squad were Derek Peterman in 38th (23:02) and Erik Aellig in 47th (24:59). "It was good to see Jacob finish in the top 15," Dodgeland coach Barry Smanz said. "We're getting out fast in races but we have to learn how to stay focused in the middle mile." Dodgeland heads to Marshall Tuesday. Boys team scores: Marshall 22, Poynette 48, Markesan 120, Waterloo 120, Rio/Fall River 131, Dodgeland 156, Pardeeville 159, Princeton 183. Girls team scores: Poynette 43, Marshall 47, Pardeeville 54, Waterloo 121, Dodgeland 133, Markesan 160, Princeton 161.
