Luck earns Kraft scholarship
Linzi Luck was named the recipient of the Kraft /National FFA Foundation Scholarship at the Beaver Dam Chapter's Parent Night and Senior Recognition Program held May 5 at the Beaver Dam High School. Sarah Shelley, Human Resources director at the Kraft plant in Beaver Dam, made the presentation, noting this was the first time that a Beaver Dam FFA member was the recipient of the Kraft Scholarship. Kraft has been a partner with the National FFA Organization for over 60 years. Besides its sponsorship of many FFA programs, Kraft offers ten $1,000 scholarships each year that are awarded nationwide. In presenting the scholarship, Shelley said, "Through FFA, we recruit interns for our Manufacturing, Procurement and Global Technology & Quality organizations. In addition, Kraft sponsors FFA career development events in food science and meat science, a collegiate leadership program and the group's national convention." Luck will be attending the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, majoring in agricultural economics. While in high school, she has served the FFA chapter as vice president and Vice president of community development. She competed in the national agricultural sales career development event. An active ember of the Oak Grove Owls 4-H, Luck has been club secretary since 2004. She is also very involved in the Girl Scouts. Last year, she participated in Badger Girl State. Her supervised agricultural experience program in small animal care and production has given her many rewarding experiences. She has also maintained an SAE in Food Service through her work at Jimmy John's. Also during the program, participants in the state FFA Career Development Events, State and American degree recipients and the graduating class of 2009 were recognized. Chapter officers for 2009-2010 were installed, while retiring officers were recognized for their year of service.
