Columbia County Moo-Day Brunch is Saturday
TOWN OF HAMPDEN — The Moo-Day Brunch, Columbia County's annual celebration of the dairy industry, will be held Saturday at a site that represents the future of family-owned dairy farming. The Sassy Cow slogan, "From our family directly to yours" describes, in a nutshell, what happens to the milk produced by a conventional herd and an organic herd of cows owned by brothers Robert and James Baerwolf. As soon as the cows are milked, the milk goes directly to the nearby creamery that the Baerwolf brothers own, where it is bottled and prepared for distribution in numerous retail outlets throughout Wisconsin and in parts of Illinois. Columbia County holds the Moo-Day Brunch every June as a celebration of Dairy Month, with a different dairy farm hosting the festivities every year. The menu for the Moo-Day Brunch will include several dairy products, including bagels with cream cheese, nachos with cheese, yogurt, cheese, milk and mozzarella-topped pizza. Other activities will include tours of the Baerwolf farms, a petting zoo, children's games, clowns, antique tractors, horse-drawn wagon rides, a kids' pedal pull and door prizes.
