Dodgeland senior pitcher Tieraney Planasch and sophomore catcher Brittany Kutcher were selected to the all-Southern Trailways softball first team.

Planasch, a second-team all-state player. shut down teams in the league. Planasch went 11-3 with a 0.68 earned run average, allowing 32 hits, nine earned runs. She struck out 189 hitters while walking just seven (a 27-to-1 ratio).

"She was the heart and soul of our team," Dodgeland coach Michelle Biwer said. "She's one of the most dedicated players I've coached."

Planasch, who plans to walk-on at Wisconsin-Green Bay, was also good with the bat with a .350 average. She had a .625 slugging percentage and was second in the conference with four triples.

"When she hit the ball, she hit it hard," Biwer said. "She was someone to be reckoned with when she was at the plate."

In her four-year career, Planasch had 780 strikeouts, 29 shutouts, six no-hitters and 13 one-hitters while compiling a 1.22 ERA.

"She's an incredible kid and I will miss her," Biwer said.

Kutcher made the transition from outfield to catcher this season and allowed just nine passed balls.

"Blocking and catching an all-state pitcher like Tieraney isn't as easy as it sounds," Biwer said. "Coming in at 65 miles per hour, Tieraney's ball has a lot of movement. But she did a nice job as the season went on."

Hustisford senior Amy Peplinski was also a first-team honoree, tying for third in the league with 18 runs scored.

Second team players included Hustisford's Kayla Will and Gena Grzesiak and Fall River's Rachael Dauman.
