Two sentenced for separate chases
By Citizen Staff
JUNEAU — A 17-year-old boy who led police on a high-speed pursuit in a stolen car after he escaped Carriage House for Rawhide Boys Ranch has been sentenced to probation. Timothy D. Doud pleaded no contest to a felony charge of fleeing police and was sentenced to serve three years of probation by Dodge County Judge Steven Bauer. Doud was previously ordered to pay a total $2,917 for 11 driving citations he received in the Nov. 16 chase. He will also return to court in August for a restitution hearing. According to police reports, a Horicon police officer attempted to pull Doud over after he failed to observe a stop sign while he was driving southbound on Highway 28. Doud accelerated through the city, at one point hitting 70 mph on East Lake Street. Once outside of the city limits, Doud hit speeds in excess of 105 mph heading west on Highway E before he lost control and spun into a ditch. A police officer positioned his car in front of Doud's truck, however, he accelerated and struck the cruiser as he continued on Highway E. The chase then continued northbound on Highway 151 before Doud spun out again near Highway 26, struck a guard rail and drove down an embankment and continued into the city of Waupun. He then drove through a hayfield, striking an electrical box and a fence, and continued northbound on Highway 151 in the southbound lane. The chase ended in the Waupun High School parking lot with Doud and a teenage passenger in the truck being arrested. In a separate case, a Waukesha man was sentenced to prison after leading police on a chase in the city of Beaver Dam that ended when he drove his car into a tree in the front yard of a home in the 200 block of Wayland Street. Joel E. Brown, 27, 515 W. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, was sentence to 24 months in prison on charges of fleeing police and third offense drunken driving. Brown must also pay $5,856 in restitution and $904 in court costs. His license has also been revoked for 18 months and he must use an ignition interlock for 18 months. According to police reports, a Beaver Dam police officer saw the vehicle Brown was driving swerving on Prospect Avenue on Nov. 8. When the officer tried to initiate a traffic stop, Brown accelerated and led the officer on a chase through the city before he lost control and struck the tree in the front lawn of a home on Wayland Street. Brown then attempted to flee on foot, but tripped and was taken into custody.
