County FSA open house is Tuesday
JUNEAU — The Dodge County Farm Service Agency office will host an “Election Open House” on Tuesday, from 1 to 3 p.m.; refreshments will be served. FSA county office staff will share information on the FSA County Committee Election process and the important role committee members play in implementing FSA programs locally, according to Susan Blachowiak, Dodge County FSA director.
“The county committee helps deliver FSA farm programs at the local level. Farmers who serve on the county committee are serving other farmers by working to make FSA agricultural programs meet the needs of local producers,” Blachowiak said.
Current members of the Dodge County FSA Committee are Dale Macheel (representing the townships of Oak Grove, Beaver Dam, Calamus, Burnett, Westford, Fox Lake, Trenton and Chester), Ronald Twardokus and Roger Hildebrandt (representing Elba, Portland, Lowell, Shields, Clyman, Emmet, Hustisford and Lebanon) as members of the current FSA Committee. In addition, Emily Krueger serves on the committee as an advisor. Advisors play an important role by representing the interests of minorities and women in committee decisions.
FSA wants to ensure that every farmer has an equal opportunity to be a candidate to serve as a member on their county committee and to ensure that the interests of all producers in Dodge County are represented. The FSA Committee is made up of three members; each is elected by and represents farmers from a specific part of county. The townships of Ashippun, Rubicon, Herman, Hubbard, Theresa, Williamstown, Lomira and Leroy will be conducting their election this year. Ronald Twardokus is the current elected representative of this area.
The nomination period for this year’s election is from June 15 to Aug. 1.
