'Drood' a must see; area talent is no mystery Baraboo Theatre Guild has done it again. "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" is very entertaining with fabulous talent and voices. The cast and those behind the scenes are to be commended! The Baraboo area is privileged to have this wealth of talent. Thanks for such a great show. All the effort certainly paid off. Marcia and David Swanson, Baraboo Christ Ministries seeks help to buy property Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, God has given Hope Through Christ Ministries, an excellent opportunity to help build the Kingdom of Christ. And we need your help! Hope Through Christ Ministries is a member of Impact Ministries International. We are located in Baraboo. Almost four years ago, God told Pastor and Prophet Matt Fearson and Pastor and Worship Leader Rachelle Fearson to return to Baraboo. They were called to minister to God's people in the Baraboo area who are suffering from addictions, suffering from relationship problems, suffering from financial problems, and people who are yearning for a strong, personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. To achieve these goals we currently offer morning and evening worship services on Sundays, 512 Romans Class (Designed for Successful Living) on Tuesdays, Bible Study on Wednesdays, and Kid's Night on Thursdays. However, this is only the beginning. God has given us a vision for the future that will include these programs along with a food bank, homeless shelter, teen pregnancy counseling, youth safe haven center, child care facility, and prison ministries. Three years ago God blessed us with a fellowship with the Wesleyan Church in Baraboo. They have been allowing us to rent their church for our worship services. They recently announced they will no longer have a presence in Baraboo. They have decided to sell both the church and the parsonage. Hope through Christ Ministries would like to purchase these properties so we can continue to build the Kingdom of Christ. The majority of our congregation is struggling financially (single moms, recovering drug and alcohol addicts, etc.) so our building fund is only $3,000. We need an additional $27,000 for a down payment for this property. That's where you come in! We are requesting that you prayerfully consider helping us. We are requesting that you take up a special offering to assist us with this need. Any donation would be greatly appreciated! Sincerely, Pastor Matt Fearson, Hope Through Christ Ministries Thanks go out to all who helped honor vets We veterans wanted to put together a program to honor all veterans who served their country when they were called to duty. We want to thank sincerely those who contributed to this observance. We appreciated the efforts made by the Baraboo High School Band led by Greg Lang and especially the veterans and their families who attended; the children from South School, St. John's Lutheran School and St. Joseph's Catholic School performed well and were much admired. Special thanks to Sgt. Major Bryan Ward, our featured speaker, who spoke well concerning veterans who are serving. His experience as a veteran added much to our day. Thanks to the Honor Guard, to the National Guard recruiter Chad Sullivan, thanks to Fran Kelly and the auxiliaries for their contribution and for the luncheon following the services and thanks to Elite Catering for a veterans' cake. We are grateful for the staff people at the Civic Center and Parks and Recreation for their help in setting up and taking down the program. Thanks to Jerry Kinnamon, Chaplain of Post 26, for his thoughtful prayer selection. Thanks to the Baraoo News Republic for the pictures and their coverage of the day. We hope this day made all veterans feel honored and appreciated for their service to their country. Al Zipsie, veteran and program chair For a peaceful, quiet jail environment, try this Option one would be looking south of the border with Mexico. A Mexican aircraft would come to Baraboo International Airport on a monthly basis to pick up costly, problem inmates. Down there their sentencing would give the inmates time to reflect their wrongdoings; and, finally return as a "certified correct citizen" of Sauk County! And, the last option would be putting them under a "drug-induced coma." This would require only two Sauk County employees: a nurse and an armed guard. Thus, the jail ward would be very, peaceful and quiet!Greg McMahon, Baraboo Shelters: Too manyanimals, too little space Why shouldn't the ordinance be changed? Now we have more animals being taken to Humane Societies and "shelters" through no fault of their own, nor their families. These are beloved pets. Let them stay with the families who love them. And how does that family decide which animals stay and which animals go? Don't subject any more animals to shelters — they are overrun as it is. I work with shelters and rescues all over the U.S. and Canada, and the message is the same: Too many animals and not enough space. Let the owners keep their beloved family members. Happily ever after includes furry family members as well. Sue Brey, Baraboo
