HORICON — Marquis Gallegos, filling in for the injured Cody Apfelbeck, crried 24 times for 139 yards and two scores in Horicon's 28-14 Flyway football win over visiting North  Fond du Lac Friday.

"I think our offensive line blocked well and Marquis ran the ball hard," Horicon coach Jim Trost said. "He's a load and he has his own brand of running right at you.

"It gives us another option. It's a big reason why we won."

Nick Steffen got the Marshmen started with a 4-yard scoring run midway through the first quarter. The Orioles struck first after recovering an onside kick.

Gallegos scored on runs of 8 and 12 yards as Horicon reached the end zone on its first four possessions. Mike Michalovitz found Aaron Garcia, who had three catches for 83 yards, from 26 yards out late in the first half.

"We have two weeks to get healthy for the stretch run," Trost said. "We've got a lot of work to do but it should be an exciting finish."

Horicon (4-2, 2-2 Flyway) will have a bye and receive a forfeit next week before visiting Kettle Moraine Lutheran Oct. 18.

North Fondy is 1-5 and 0-4.
