Boys hockey: Beavers floored early

La Crosse Aquinas/Holmen took a 3-0 lead less than nine minutes into the contest and went on for Saturday afternoon's 6-2 win over Beaver Dam's boys hockey team at the Family Center.

"Our first period wasn't our best period of the year," Beaver Dam coach Chris Huebel said. "We came out flat and weren't ready to go.

"It's tough to get out of that hole."

Filip Krejieck and Andy Kirchner each scored twice for the visitors, with Krejieck adding two assists. BD got on the board when Alex Schmitt scored with Aaron Ehlenfeldt assisting at 9 minutes, 45 seconds of the first period.

"In the second and third period, we did OK," Huebel said. "We had our chances. We just couldn't finish."

A/H would score with a minute left in the frame and push the edge to 5-1 in the second period. BD's other goal came from Quinn Lockwood, with assists to Ehlenfeldt and Kurt Ulrikson.

BD hosts Green Bay United Tuesday.
