By Citizen Staff
COLUMBUS — The Columbus Downtown Development Corporation will host "Public Enemies" Premiere Night on July 1. "Public Enemies" is the Universal Studios film that stars Johnny Depp as John Dillinger. The movie, directed by Michael Mann, also stars Christian Bale. It was filmed throughout the Midwest with scenes shot in both Columbus and Beaver Dam. In Columbus, the downtown was transformed into a 1930s street scene and the Mary Poser home also was a location for filming. In Beaver Dam, The Rogers stood in for an Arizona hotel. Scenes also were shot in Oshkosh, Milwaukee, Madison and Manitowish Waters. The Public Enemies Premiere Night will allow Columbus residents to see the movie at a 7:30 p.m. showing at Eastgate Marcus Movie Theaters in Madison. A $30 ticket will include coach bus to the movie, a ticket for the show and a post movie reception at the Columbus Senior Center with appetizers and refreshments. A $20 ticket includes the movie ticket and entrance to the reception. Tickets will go on sale Tuesday at the Columbus Visitor's Center, 116 W. James St., and Sharrow Drugs, 100 S. Ludington St. A limited number of tickets will be made available at each location. Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. Tickets may be purchased by cash or check only. Checks may be made payable to Columbus Downtown Development Corporation and are non-refundable. The "Public Enemies Premiere Night" event will serve as a fundraiser for Columbus Main Street, which has a mission of keeping the downtown the "heart of the community." Event sponsors include Kobussen Bus Co., Culver's of Columbus, Day One Pizza, Farmers & Merchants Union Bank, Nickels & Dimes Investment Group and Pizza Shak.
