JUNEAU: Eighth OWI nets prison time
John W. Beers Jr. was will serve 18 months in state prison after being convicted of his sixth OWI offense Monday. Beers Jr., 42, 1001 S. Spring St., Beaver Dam, was pulled over on May 13 on his way back from a Milwaukee Brewers game, and a preliminary breath test registered his blood alcohol level at .157. In addition, there were three young children in the back seat, and Beers was charged with OWI with minor children in the vehicle. In addition to 18 months in state prison, Beers must undergo six years of extended supervision, pay $2,002, lose his license for three years, have an ignition interlock installed for three years, maintain absolute sobriety and undergo an alcohol assessment. Beers has earned a 27-day credit for time already served.
