MAILBAG - Waupun disappointment
Waupun council's actions taken to task I have been observing and recording Waupun history for almost 48 years. The action taken by the city council relative to Gary Rogers at the June 9 meeting will go down as one of the most disgusting, hurtful and narrow-minded I have ever recorded. It was unworthy of the Waupun tradition. When I am doing research for our history I have contact with the city hall, library, police department, fire department and the city garage. I have found their level of courtesy, helpfulness and pride in work to be at the best it has ever been. I can only hope that this level of service will continue. I am going on record to record my respect and support for Gary Rogers. I have had many problems that required contact with Mr. Rogers. He was always helpful and most of the time arrived at a solution that I wouldn't have thought of and really served the interest of my research. I hope that someone will organize a "good-bye" party for him. I am also going on record to record my respect and support for Mayor Jodi Steger. I support her for the job she is doing and will continue to vote for her. She has handled a very difficult job with a minimum of hard feelings. Don't get me wrong, both Mr. Rogers and Mrs. Steger have made mistakes, but I remind the reader that the only person who doesn't make mistakes is the person who does nothing. — Jim Laird Waupun
