BD man sentenced in stabbing

JUNEAU — A Beaver Dam man who reportedly slashed a man across the stomach with a utility knife during an altercation has been sentenced to jail.

Joseph M. Keene, 41, 1309 Wayland St., Beaver Dam, was convicted of battery and disorderly conduct after the charges were amended from substantial battery.

He must serve 90 days in jail and two years of probation. He must also pay more than $2,000 in restitution to the victim.

According to a criminal complaint, the altercation occurred in the 100 block of Haskell Street in March. The victim was dropping off items that belonged to Keene's fiancé when the altercation began.

The victim said the two exchanged words, and Keene slashed him with the knife when he took a step towards him. The gash was reported three inches long and a half-inch deep.
