OAK GROVE: Woman cited for calling 911

A profanity-laced 911 call on Thursday resulted in a citation for a town of Oak Grove woman.

The woman called 911 twice to report that her cows were loose and help was needed to round them up before they caused a traffic hazard. It was determined after the first call that the cows were in a marsh and did not pose a hazard.

The woman called a second time around 7 p.m. and yelled at the 911 telecommunicator using profanity and insisting that a deputy respond.

A Dodge County sheriff's deputy did respond and the woman was cited for misusing 911.

Sheriff Todd Nehls said he was proud of the way the telecommunication staff handled the calls and that it demonstrates how difficult their jobs can be.
