Tornados Team gets a hand for lending a hand

Luminaries is a very special part of the Relay for Life Event that took place Friday night at Beaver Dam High School.

In order to process the high volume of bags submitted, we need many volunteers. Coach Bill Luebke and assistant coach Augie Castillo of the U-14 Girls Tornado team asked their players if they would be interested in helping with the Relay. Bill shared with the girls that there were very few families he knew of that had not been touched by cancer.

The response from the team was incredible.  In addition to the coaching staff, teammates Kelly Marks, Stacy Rauscher, Lindsey Nowicki, Tiffani Castillo, Laura Miller, Valerie Pryme, Caitlyn Nickel, Teresa Simon and Summer Bruce also worked the event. Joining the team were friends and family Brooke Schumann, Letty Castillo, Eva Arndt, Breanna Castillo, Zack Draeger, Daena Dettmann, Katy Urban and Ryan Rabatta.

Thank you everyone for helping us with this very special part of the Relay for Life Event. Your hard work and caring is both applauded and appreciated.

Thanks for help         with the tourney

The Beaver Dam Athletic Club completed its 23rd annual Fathers Day weekend youth baseball tournament with 36 teams, 33 teams from outside the area, and at this time feel compelled to thank all those who helped in making it a successful tournament

While we strive to give our children a positive baseball learning environment, our mission to instill respect, confidence and responsibility both on and off the field is made possible by generous members of the community. We are grateful to Patti Maleck at the Community Activities Center and to John Neumann and his crew at the Park Shop, who despite their workload did, and always do all they could and with a great attitude. The facilities at the Athletic Field received many compliments.

Those supporting the club were Schumann Printers, Masterprint, Greg Miller and Kwik Trip, Park Plaza Pizza, Bob and Patti Marohl, Dennis and Brenda Steinkraus, Steve Baldwin, Benvenoto's Restaurant, Recheks Food Pride, Todd Ferron, Jeff Klug and his staff of Youth Baseball. Team sponsors for this year are  Masterprint, Roberts Painting, K&B Tree and Lawn, Apache Stainless Equipment, Personel Resources, and Kathy Schmitt at Remax.

I apologize if I have overlooked anyone and once again say thank you and you should be proud of your community involvement

Benefit ride made a difference

The Dodge County Humane Society would like to take this opportunity to say thank to Tammy Kok for organizing the Mike Zuhlke Benefit Ride with proceeds going to the shelter. It is individuals like Tammy, who care, that make it possible for us to help the animals.

We would also like to thank the following businesses for their support: Darwin Young DJ Service, Vandy's Bar, Little Green; Miller's Tavern, Ripon; Gooseblind, Green Lake; Jim and Lisa's Bar, Fairwater; The Wharf, Marci's, Mr. B's, and the American Legion, all located in Fox Lake, and Mischler's Harley Davidson of Beaver Dam.

Last of all, a special thank you to everyone who donated their time, food and gifts for the ride. Without your help and dedication, this ride would not have been a success.
