Pair rescued after fall at Pewits Nest

Rescue crews responded to the Pewits Nest State Natural Area, also known as Pee Wees Nest, on Friday evening after two people were injured in a fall at the gorge located southwest of Baraboo off County Highway W. A woman suffered a back injury and a man suffered a head injury, according to a press release from the Baraboo District Ambulance Service. Both victims were in their early 20s, the release said. Rescuers roped down the cliffs to provide medical assistance and used an inflatable raft to remove the victims from the water. They were flown out by University of Wisconsin Med Flight and by Med Link of La Crosse for treatment. Baraboo District Ambulance, Baraboo and Prairie du Sac Fire Departments, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Sauk County Sheriff's Department were involved in the rescue.
