Langeteig will lead Holly Jolly Light Parade

Downtown Baraboo, Inc. has announced the grand marshall for this year's WRPQ 740-TV43 Holly Jolly Light Parade is Alan Langeteig from Amcore Bank.

"Alan has been the driving force behind Amcore's involvement in many DBI activities for many years," said Cindy Doescher, event promoter. "Although he is a very humble man who doesn't like to be in the spotlight, we felt it appropriate to honor his dedication in a special way."

Amcore Bank has been the title sponsor for Faire on the Square for five years and has been involved in supporting or participating in the Holly Jolly parade since its inception. "These events couldn't take place without the invaluable contributions of people like Alan Langeteig," DBI President Todd Wickus said, "and we greatly appreciate his involvement so that DBI can continue to bring these great family events to our community."

"Downtown Baraboo and its wonderful business community are extremely important to Baraboo's identity and the success of its economy," Langeteig said. "Amcore Bank and I are proud to support them as much as possible."

Langeteig has been in the banking business for 34 years and is currently senior vice president and market president at the Baraboo Amcore Bank. He doesn't limit his charitable work to downtown but also serves on the St. Clare Hospital Foundation Board, the University of Wisconsin-Baraboo/Sauk County Community Advisement Board, the Baraboo Boys & Girls Club Board, as well as supporting many other civic and nonprofit organizations like the Al. Ringling Theatre and Hope House.

The parade will be Saturday at 6 p.m. in downtown Baraboo. Downtown merchants invite shoppers to come earlier in the day for a Holiday Open House, which will feature free carriage rides from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and street entertainers and food stands that open at 5 p.m. After the parade, kids are invited to visit and pictures taken with Santa Claus above Corner Drug Store at 524 Oak St. Starting Nov. 29, through Dec. 20, Santa will take up residence at 102 Fourth Ave. each Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
