G. Lee Stanclift

G. Lee Stanclift, age 88, of St. Charles died Friday, June 19, 2009 at Tower Hill Nursing Home in South Elgin, Ill.

He was born September 22, 1920 in Cadillac, Michigan to Edgar and Jennie (Mack) Stanclift.

Lee served in the US Air Force during WWII, most of his time serving in England as an airplane mechanic.

Since 1961, he was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, Local No. 501.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post No. 1 342, where he was a past Commander and Junior and Senior Vice. He served as Commander of the 11th District in Illinois and Commander of the 2nd Division in Illinois. He was also a member of the Forty et Eight and past member of the VFW Post No. 5036.

He is survived by his children, Patricia (Monte) Cook of North Freedom, Edgar J (Sharla) of Reedsburg, Jennifer (Brian) Larson of South Elgin and Roger Lee Stanclift of Tennessee, stepchildren, Sharon Henkelman of Georgia, Robert Henkelman of Wisconsin, Andrew (Margaret) Henkelman of Wisconsin and Richard Henkelman of Wisconsin, a sister, Dara (Jerome) Schneider of Texas and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, Mary Leone Ferguson Stanclift Rapp and Lois Sorensen Stanclift, three sisters, Ruth Treankler, Leora Lehman and an infant sister and his niece, Carol Treankler Fezatt.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 26th at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, (corner of Rt. 64 and Rt. 25), St. Charles. Interment will be private. Visitation was be Thursday from
