Next free vehicle check Oct. 31

REEDSBURG — A winter vehicle safety check is paramount to all drivers in Wisconsin, but tasks some of us easily navigate, such as checking tires, oil pressure and headlights, can be difficult for senior citizens. For this reason Sauk County Triad,  a cooperative effort between seniors, police departments and the sheriff's department to reduce victimization of senior citizens, sponsored a free winterization check for area seniors Friday.

Fedderly Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep of Reedsburg donated their time, space and mechanical expertise to the cause, which attracted 45 clients by 11 a.m. In addition to the vehicle inspection, seniors were offered complimentary snacks, coffee, an icescraper and snowbrush, sidewalk salt and loads of information about programs in Sauk County. The next winterization clinic will be held on Friday, Oct. 31 from 9 a.m. until noon at Hartje Farm, Home and Tire in LaValle. Questions can be directed to Sgt. Aaron Kirby or Deputy Shelly Backeberg of the Sauk County Sheriff's Department at 355-3212 or Officer Peggy Porter of the Reedsburg Police Department at 524-2376.
