Selma Kaun, 94, Published June 13, 2009

Selma L. Kaun, age 94 of Reedsburg, died on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at Maple Ridge Assisted Living in Reedsburg. She was born on Nov. 1, 1914 in the Town of Washington, Sauk County, the daughter of Henry and Ida (Radke) Schenck. On Nov. 20, 1946, she was married to Harold E. Kaun.  Selma was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church where she was active with the Altar Guild, a member of the Reedsburg Senior Serenaders Kitchen Band and the Reedsburg Historical Society.  She worked as a cook for the Reedsburg Schools for many years.  Selma enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, quilting and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; three sisters, Agnes Thieding, Leona Krueger and Emma Muchow; and eight brothers, Walter, Paul, Henry, Herbert, Martin, Ernest, Edmund and Clarence Schenck.

Survivors include her three children, David (Kathy) Kaun of Hudson; Karen (Victor) Hineman of Reedsburg and Donald Kaun and his special friend, Heidi Addison of Stitzer; one sister, Lily Rehr of Reedsburg; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Reedsburg with Pastor David Glesne officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg. Memorials of remembrance to St. John Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
