Dellona approves reassessment
By Anna Krejci, Dells Events
The Dellona Town Board approved a contract for reassessments of residents’ properties by Jacobson Appraisal, Inc. at a meeting Monday. The town will pay $23,700 for services. Chairman Paul Bremer said the town’s assessor notified them with a letter that the town is not complying with state regulations in regards to assessments on undeveloped forests and farm land. Bremer said the town’s property assessments have to be within 90 percent of property values from the state and that currently undeveloped forests and farm lands are only 73 percent of state figures. The town is expecting correspondence from the state alerting them to the problem, based on what Bremer said was in a letter from Jacobson Appraisals. Bremer said the reassessment would be of a "drive by" nature, and the assessor would not enter homes. He compared prices of different reassessments. If an entirely new reassessment was to be completed next year, Bremer said the cost would be nearly $49,000. Since Jacobson Appraisals would be reassessing homes within five years of the full assessment that was completed in 2005, a mid-level assessment could be completed for an additional cost of $11,300, Bremer said. The total cost of the recently approved contract was $23,700 because the town was scheduled to pay $12,400 for maintenance on the contract services. In other business, the board accepted a resignation letter from Supervisor Tom Baker who Bremer said is resigning because of health issues. Bremer said he is checking with the Wisconsin Towns Association on what the procedure is to replace Baker. In a roads report update, Bremer said shoulder work would be completed on Lyndon and paving done soon on Horkan, Briar Bluff and North Avenue. The town is holding a special meeting at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 14 for Wisconsin Dells School District Administrator Chuck Whitsell to present information on the referendum asking residents on the east side of Dellona to vote for or against borrowing for an addition to Spring Hill School. A Reedsburg Area Ambulance representative also will talk about proposed changes in service.
