Saturdays in October were busy for members of United Presbyterian church in Wisconsin Dells.

They packed and shipped 17 boxes for soldiers. The WHAM (We Have A Mission) team, and members of the congregation used their donations, and donations from community establishments like Yogi Bear Camp Ground, Moose Jaw Restaurant/Knuckleheads, Pierce’s and Culver’s in the Dells. They were able to send blankets, sheets, sporting equipment, toiletries, snacks, sand scarves, cooling scarves and other needed items to a base in Afghanistan.

Last month, United Presbyterian sent out multiple boxes also. This is one of their many missions. The church has been sending boxes for over two years now. It started out with one soldier, and one box a month, since the church supports Soldiers’ Angels, soldiersangels.org and has grown to multiple locations with many troops. Some are our local families deployed, and others are names given with a plea for supplies by other needy troops.

United Presbyterian will continue to send supplies until there is no need. Nov. 17 is the next scheduled day for packing and shipping. The church will continue to spread the word and encourage people to visit Web sites such as soldiers angels.org to see the great need as well as ways anyone can help.

United Presbyterian is in need of not only items to ship, but monetary donations for shipping costs. At this time it has supplies enough to fill approximately 50 more boxes, but is short of the money to get them in the mail. If you wish to help please send your donation to: WHAM for soldiers, United Presbyterian Church, 730 Cedar St., Wisconsin Dells, WI 53965.
