Dellona OKs budget

The Dellona Town Board approved a $367,841 budget for 2010 at a meeting Monday. Incomes equal expenses with spending down about 1 percent compared with this year’s budget of $371,810. The board also set a 3 percent increase in the tax levy which will be $164,800, an increase of $4,800 over last year’s tax collection of $160,000. The board set a special meeting for approval of the tax levy for Nov. 23 at 7:30 p.m. State highway aids are more compared with what was doled out this year. This year the town received $88,000. In 2010 the town expects to get $101,270. While income in that category grew, the town will experience a cut in shared revenue compared with this year’s amount of $21,456. In 2010 the town will receive $18,671. The 2010 budget includes the first, full-year payment for fire and ambulance services to Dells-Delton EMS and Delton Fire for the eastern half of Dellona. Those expenses come out to $10,000 for Delton Fire and $22,500 for Dells-Delton EMS. Payments to Reedsburg Fire will be $7,800, and Reedsburg Area Ambulance Service is budgeted at $1,950 for residents living on the western side of town. The town board is taking a cut in what it is budgeting for salaries and expenses. Spending in that category drops from $19,000 budgeted this year to $15,000 budgeted in 2010. Through Oct. 1 $10,780 has been spent in that category. The roads budget is set at $79,211 and in comparison $90,134 was budgeted this year. As of Oct. 1. spending on roads had totalled $83,193. Board Chairman Paul Bremer said the town is considering road work on .53 miles of South Avenue for the next two years. The town may apply for Local Road Improvement Program funds to pay part of the cost. Snow plowing is projected to cost $75,000 in 2010. This year $80,000 was allocated for it and as of Oct. 1 $59,510 has been spent, leaving the town with nearly $20,500 left to cover snowfall this year. Residents’ fees for garbage collection will be $122 per household, according to Bremer. In other business, the board took the following action: Approved a plat of Sandy Acres. Set a meeting Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. to meet with the Dellona Plan Commission to talk about town ordinances. Decided to submit a road improvement plan to be eligible for state road grant money through the Local Road Improvement Plan.
