F. Collins Hoyt
Collins Hoyt, 90, of Wisconsin Dells died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 at the Golden Living Center in Wisconsin Dells.
Memorial funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 4 at noon at Bethany Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Dells with the Rev. Craig Wolfgram officiating.
Visitation will be at Bethany Lutheran Church on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at noon.
Collins was born Nov. 13, 1917 in Portal, N.D., the son of Fayette and Agnes (nee Hansen) Hoyt. He was married to Florence Radenz, and she preceded him in death. He later married Betty Commers in October 1969, and she preceded him in death in May 1995.
Collins worked at the Register Guard Newspaper in Eugene, Ore. from 1949 to 1962, later moved to Palo Alto, Calif. and in 1967 relocated to Chicago where he worked as a typesetter for the Chicago Tribune until his retirement in 1981. At that time he and Betty moved to Fawn Lake just north of Wisconsin Dells. Collins loved to golf and was a member of the Christmas Mountain golf course.
A tale of many, from Collins. My friend's day of passage comes, and we will share sweet sorrow. But a voice will call and Collins will say, "Guess where I'm playing tomorrow!"
Collins is survived by a dear friend, Delores Morris of Wisconsin Dells; a daughter, Michelle (Terry Moe) Hoyt of Portland, Ore.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; sons, John and Jim; a brother, John and sisters, Lois, Carol and Ruth.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Bethany Lutheran Church.
