Bernice Tangney
Bernice Tangney, 94, of Wisconsin Dells, died peacefully Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009 at the Our House Residential Facility in Wisconsin Dells. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Oxford Funeral Home in Oxford, with Deacon Francis Tangney officiating. Burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells. Visitation will be at the Oxford Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Bernice was born Sept. 5, 1915 in Quincy Township of Adams County, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Tiedtke) Berndt. In December 1936, she married Edmund Tangney. He was in the Army Air Corps and following the military, they lived in Milwaukee for several years and moved back to the Jordan Lake area in 1951. With her husband they developed Clearwater Resort and later added a condominium along with Clearwater Estates. In their later years, they developed Clearwater Subdivision. Bernice is survived by nephews, Patrick (Phyllis) Tangney of Hillsboro/Black River Falls, Jerome (Nancy) Tangney of Menasha, Bernard (Linda) Tangney of Whitewater, Francis (Alice) Tangney of St. Louis Park, Minn. and William Tangney of Madison; nieces, Alice Leszczynsky of Wauwatosa, and Catherine Duerst Schroeder of Verona, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her dear husband, Edmund; a brother, Elmer and a niece, Dorothy Berg.
