Adeline Karas, 88 of Chicago, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 at St. Joesph’s Hospital in Chicago.

Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 9, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lyndon Station, with Father Valentine Joseph celebrating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Conway Picha Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009 from 4 to 6 p.m. and on Monday from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.

Adeline was born Dec. 15, 1920 in Lyndon Station, the daughter of Alexander and Mary (Owczarzak) Rynkowski. She graduated from Mauston High School. In May 1950, she married Anthony Karas in Chicago. She was well known for being a wonderful cook.

Adeline is survived by her children, James (Christine) Karas of Lombard, Ill.; Jo-Ann Karas of Anchorage, Alaska and Janice Karas of Chicago; sister, Marie (John) Sommer of Chicago; sister-in-law, Marquerite Rynkowski of Reedsburg; grandchildren, Daniel, Jillian, Emily, Michael and Russell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Joseph, Robert and Alex.
