Joan McClyman

Joan Marie McClyman, 70 of Wisconsin Dells, passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, Feb. 1, 2010 after a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 4, at 11 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Wisconsin Dells with the Rev. Steven Keller officiating. Visitation will be at the Picha Funeral Home in Wisconsin Dells on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday at the United Presbyterian Church from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.

Joan was born Nov. 27, 1939 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Harold and Florence Ziegelbauer. The family lived in Fond du Lac before moving to Huron, S.D. when Harold started working for the railroad. They returned to Wisconsin and lived in Adams-Friendship where Joan went to high school and later moved back to Fond du Lac where she graduated from Fond du Lac North High School.

Joan worked summers in Wisconsin Dells where she met her future husband, Robert. They married at the United Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Nov. 27, 1960. She worked at McClyman Hardware on Oak Street in the Dells and later worked seasonally for 12 years at Lands End in Reedsburg. She was involved with the Order of the Eastern Star and served as a state officer; served on the United Fund board; was a den mother for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in Wisconsin Dells and served on the Blackhawk Girl Scout Council.

Joan is survived by her husband, Robert; a daughter, Karen (Jim) Tischer of Nekoosa; and three sons, Jim (Lisa) McClyman, Scott (Ami) McClyman and Steve (Lisa) McClyman, all of Wisconsin Dells; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Lizzy, Molly, Katie, Ashley, RJ, and Pierce Robert who joined the clan Oct. 31, 2009; a brother, John (Mary) Ziegelbauer of Phoenix, Ariz. and stepbrothers, Mark (Barb) Hannan and Jerry Hannan of Oshkosh.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Bea Hannan and stepbrother, Tom Hannan.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Rev. Davies Memorial Fund or the Dells Country Historical society.

The Picha Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
