The Wisconsin Dells High School varsity golf team will complete a third straight season as the South Central Conference champions. Five of six nine-hole meets into the season, the Chiefs remain perfect, following the overall low gross score in its own event at Trappers Turn on Monday afternoon. The Chiefs finished with a team score of 162, its lowest total of the season at Trappers, 23 better than second place Wautoma the Hornets climbing into the runners up spot for the first time since the season opener nearly a month ago in Nekoosa. Matching 40s by junior Jade Royston and senior Alex Buesing led the way for the Chiefs while junior Keelan Kimball and sophomore Josh Krueger were both one stroke back. Those scores allowed the Chiefs to throw out a 48 from Justin Ward, a score that would have stood up as second best on four of the five other teams. Royston battled back from behind down six strokes in his number one threesome group after two holes and wound up sharing the overall low gross score with Buesing. While Wautoma was second at 185, third place went to Adams Friendship, six strokes behind. Mauston was fourth at 200, Nekoosa next at 203 and Westfield wrapped up with 208.
