At least three members of the Wisconsin Dells High School varsity golf team stepped up with their best rounds at the end.

Kirsten Schueler, Tama Estebo and Samantha Mueller all fired personal best rounds for the Chiefs who finished fourth among North Badger teams at the Badger Conference meet held at the Evansville Golf Club on Wednesday.

The result pushed the Chiefs, winners of just one conference duel round, into fourth spot in the six-team rankings.

Senior Devan Dollar ranked ninth in conference with her round of 97 and fellow senior, Mary Moore, was close behind with a 101.

Kirsten Schueler, another senior fired her best ever 18-hole round with a 108 while freshman teammates Tama Estebo and Samantha Schueler had 135 and 149 respectively, both personal best rounds as well.

For Dollar in the number one slot, it was another solid round and it could have been even better, said coach Troy Ryan.

"She did a nice job. She's going in the right direction right now," said Ryan of Dollar who fired a 44 on the front nine, but found a bit of trouble on the back half and finished with a 53.

Moore also enjoyed one of her better rounds, slipping in just under 50, with a 49 on the front and staying more or less consistent with a 52 on back.

The biggest improvement for Moore, who worked hard all summer to be ready for this season, is her ability to either get out of trouble or not get into trouble, said Ryan.

"She's trying to minimize her risk or trouble by taking the least costly shots."

As for the other three, Ryan said "They all shot rounds that are down and they reached individual goals.

The team is now preparing for Regionals scheduled to take place Wednesday or Thursday in Prairie du Chien. The Chiefs qualified for Sectionals last year and have a great incentive to return - Sectionals will be held at Trappers Turn in Wisconsin Dells a week later.
