Eighth Grade football Chiefs whip Devils

The Spring Hill Middle School Eighth Grade football team is used to starting quickly.

For the second time in three games this season, Sean Kendall rand the opening kick back for a touchdown and that was just the start as the Middle School Chiefs earned a lopsided 48-0 win over the Adams-Friendship Green Devils at WDHS Tuesday afternoon.

A two-point conversion on Kendall's opening run had the locals up 8-0 and after a defensive stop, the locals went right back to work, quarterback Colyn Buss hitting Jon Mor for a 55-yard score on the second play from scrimmage.

The two point conversion attempt failed, but the Chiefs owned a 14-0 lead just minutes into the contest

On its next series, Buss found Shane Wimann for a 35-yard touchdown and on the last play of the first half, Kendall took a turn as the thrower, hitting Wimann for a 20-yard score as the Chiefs carried a 28-0 cushion into the second half.

Early in the second half, Kendall had a 40-yard run to the end zone with help from a huge Zach Denton block, putting the Chiefs up 36-0 with a Tyler Young catch on the conversion.

Kendall made it a touchdown hat trick on the last play of the third quarter, this time from 25-yards away and Mor rounded out the scoring with his touchdown run late in the game.

The Chiefs are now 3-0 on the season and have yet to allow a point, having whipped Wautoma, Nekoosa and now Adams-Friendship by a combined margin of 138-0.

"The team is led defensively by Denton, Jake Shirley and a host of other hard nosed players," said co-coach Bob Buss in a written report adding "It's so exciting to be able to coach these kids who have such a great work ethic and team unity."
