On Nov. 30, attendees gathered at Ho-Chunk Gaming in Wisconsin Dells to support SSM Health at Home’s Spirit of Life gala. This year more than 220 attendees came out for a night of food, fun and fellowship, raising money for the SSM Health Hospice House Resident Fund.
For the fifth year, SJS Cancer Support Team presented a check at the event in support of the Resident Fund. This year’s $15,000 donation from the SJS Cancer Support Team helped push the total raised at Spirit of Life to more than $38,000 which will provide more than 150 days stay at the SSM Health Hospice House.
SJS Cancer Support Team is a Baraboo-based nonprofit organization. The group formed by Judy Spencer, Kevin Schell and Kathy Johnson helps people who have a family member with cancer through gifts directly to those affected by the disease, as well donations to nonprofits who assist cancer patients and their families.
The SSM Health Hospice House is run by SSM Health at Home and helps those at end-of-life unable to remain at home. The fund, which is part of the Home Health United-Visiting Nurse Service Foundation, helps pay room and board fees at the House for those who are unable to afford them.
