After suffering its first loss of the season, the Wisconsin Dells baseball team kicked off South Central Conference play with a 6-2 win over Wautoma on Tuesday in Wautoma.
The Chiefs (2-1, 1-0 SCC) never trailed after scoring one run each in the first and second innings to take an early 2-0 lead. Wisconsin Dells then added three runs in the fifth, including RBI singles by sophomore Dylan Nevar and senior Jakob Millard, to seize control.
Nevar added another RBI single in the top of the sixth before the Hornets finally got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but it was too little too late.
Nevar, who had a pair of hits, struck out seven and allowed no runs on two hits in four innings of work to pick up the win. Junior Dylan Musiedlak helped lead the way for the Chiefs at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, while Millard added two hits.
