Former Wisconsin Dells athlete Jaden Ward and the Quinnipiac women’s basketball team are headed to the NCAA tournament.
The Bobcats, who won the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference regular season championship for the fifth straight year, defeated Marist 67-58 in Monday’s MAAC tournament championship to earn the league’s automatic bid for a second consecutive year. Ward, a 6-foot forward, didn’t appear in the team’s win over the Red Foxes but scored 10 points and grabbed three rebounds in the Bobcats’ 83-44 win over Monmouth (N.J.) University in the quarterfinals.
The sophomore averaged 4.2 points per game and 3 rebounds in 26 games this season. Quinnipiac, which is making its fourth appearance in the last six seasons, reached the Sweet 16 last year, falling to eventual national champion South Carolina 100-58.
