Beverly Maves, 89, of Wisconsin Dells, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, the most favorite and special day of her life at St. Clare Hospice House in Baraboo.
Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, at Newport Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Dells, with the Rev. William Grimm officiating. Burial is at Newport Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Newport Lutheran Church.
Beverly was born July 5, 1928, in Hinsdale, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Arrena (Sellers) Svoboda and she grew up there. After graduation she worked at the Chicago Convention Bureau, and later as a receptionist/operator for Illinois Bell Telephone. In July 1948, she had married Wilbur Maves in Westmont, Illinois. In 1984, they moved to the Dells area.
Beverly was a member of the Village Women’s Club of Clarendon Hills, Illinois, for 15 years holding all club positions, member of Newport Homemakers since 1985, and Commission on Aging Columbia County for 10 years. She also volunteered and served on the board of ABC Connections, Inc. helping senior citizens and was a member of the Newport Lutheran Church Ladies Aid and served as treasurer.
Beverly is survived by a daughter, Renee Lorengo of Wenona, Illinois; brothers, Robert (Mary Ellen) Svoboda of Independence, Missouri, and Howard (Beverly) Svoboda of Lemont, Illinois, and a sister, Shirley Wincentson of Modesto, California. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbur; and a sister, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Newport Lutheran Church Cemetery would be appreciated. The family thanks the staff at St. Clare Hospice House for their wonderful and much appreciated heart felt care where Beverly resided for the past 22 months.
