Eleanor J. Raatz, 82, reunited with her husband Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017.
Eleanor was born Sept. 5, 1935, in Wisconsin Dells, to John and Monica (Pezall) Sobojinski. She was the youngest daughter of ten children and grew up on the family farm and graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1953. She married Carl Raatz, Oct. 23, 1954, in Wisconsin Dells.
She was working at Red Dot potato chip factory in Madison until the arrival of the first of their five children. Eleanor enjoyed her time working at Gompers Middle School where she exhibited a passion for helping kids. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Peters. She was also a member of the Grieg Club and the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. Eleanor enjoyed gardening, camping, walking, and spending time with her grandkids and extensive family.
Eleanor is survived by her children, Carla (Mike) Reiser, Randy, Ron (Corinne), Rick, and Rusty (Tari); grandchildren, Tyler, Cooper, Gunther, Jeremiah, Jordan, Jacey, Monica, Nick, Erik, Patrick, Teddy and Sammie; great-grandchild, Austyn Lynn; brother-in-law, Herman; and sister-in-law, Margaret.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Carl; and siblings, Eugene, Irene, Rosemary, Lucille, Johnny, Edward, Ervin, Virginia and Donald.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 23, at Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 North Sherman Avenue, Madison. A visitation was held from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial was held at Sunset Memory Gardens.
