Vernon Smith, 74, of Wisconsin Dells, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, at the Bible Baptist Church, 809 Explorer Trail, Reedsburg, with Pastor Fred Weiss officiating. Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Baraboo. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the church.
Vernon was born Dec. 20, 1942, in Wisconsin Dells, the son of Martin and Helen (Hageborg) Smith. He started helping his dad on the farm at the age of 9. Farming was his life up until his death. He was combining on the farm that he and his brother purchased in 1974, and is now known as Smith Valley Farms. He graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1961. He was a wonderful brother and uncle. He had a heart of gold and tried helping people with whatever they needed. As an uncle he would tell you when you did something right or when he thought something could be done different or better.
Vernon is survived by his sister, Sherrill (Dennis) Schulenberg of Baraboo; brother, Glendon (April) Smith of Wisconsin Dells; nieces, Autumn Smith and Michelle (Joey) Fisher, both of Wisconsin Dells; nephews, Kevin Schulenberg of Baraboo, Glen and (Kathleen) Smith and Curtis Smith, both of Wisconsin Dells; great-nephews, Ty and Trent Motz. He was preceded in death by his parents.
