The Wisconsin Dells boys soccer team held Sugar River scoreless for the opening half, but couldn’t keep the Capitol Conference leading team quiet for long, as Sugar River scored three goals in the second half on its way to a 3-1 victory over Chiefs on Thursday at the Woodside Sports Complex.

Sugar River couldn’t get a shot past Wisconsin Dells goalkeeper Ben Fish until the 68th minute, when Jaden Kreklow scored an unassisted goal to give his team a 1-0 lead. The goal seemed to spark the Sugar River offense, as one minute later Brock Kelly found the back of the net to make it 2-0, and then 6 minutes after that, Kreklow scored again to make it 3-0.

Wisconsin Dells finally got on the board in the 90th minute, when Nep Vitales blasted a shot from outside the box that got past Cole Myers to make it a 3-1 game.

Fish finished with eight saves in the game for Wisconsin Dells, including “three to six awesome saves” according to head coach Ernesto Arias. The head coach also gave credit to his team’s defense, which “was like a wall in the first half.”
