Sophomore Lindsay Cunningham’s victory in the 1,600 meters led the way as the Wisconsin Dells girls track team finished in fourth place with 54.75 points at the Spring Invitational in Ripon on Monday.
Cunningham claimed the lone first place for Wisconsin Dells at the indoor meet, as she won the 1,600 meters in 5 minutes, 37.09 seconds. That was about 6 seconds faster than Tri-County freshman Lily Klisiewicz, who was second in 5:43.10.
Wisconsin Dells senior Jenna Mace also had a strong meet, finishing in the top three in three different events. Mace was second in the long jump with a distance of 15 feet, 8 ½ inches. She also finished third in the 60 meter dash in 8.30 seconds and was third in the 200 meters in 27.58 seconds.
Freshman Megan Jones was second in the 400 meters with a time of 1:05.42. Other top individual finishes on Monday included junior Caelan Tourdot, who was seventh in the shot put (32-07.25) and senior Caroline Pakos, who was seventh in the high jump (4-04).
The top relay finish for the Wisconsin Dells girls came in the 1,600 meter relay, where the team of Tourdot, Maia Backhaus, Jones and Pakos finished second with a time of 4:36.73.
The Wisconsin Dells boys finished in sixth place out of 12 teams with 29 points at Monday’s meet. They were led by junior Nick Kruschke and sophomore Pablito Schulz.
Kruschke finished in second place in pole vault by clearing the bar at 11 feet, 6 inches, while Schulz finished third in the 1,600 meters with a time of 4 minutes, 54.38 seconds.
Other top finishes for the Wisconsin Dells boys included Maverick Platt, who was sixth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 10.27 seconds and Cade Ravenscroft, who was sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 38 feet, 5 inches. Darius MacKinnis was eighth in the 400 meters in 57.60 seconds, while Jayce Dickman was eighth in the 800 meters in 2:20.92.
