First United Methodist Church, 405 14th Ave., Baraboo, will host an open house from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday to dedicate the solar panels that were installed on the parsonage’s roof. All Sky Energy and Legacy Solar Co-op. will discuss the panels.
The public is invited and light refreshments will be served.
After years of research, the board of trustees made the decision in August 2017 to install solar modules to provide electrical power for the parsonage, the home provided by the church for its pastor and family.
The American-made solar panels were installed in the fall and fully activated by December.
The church’s members donated the $10,000 investment for the solar panel installation, with additional support from the Focus on Energy program, which provided a grant of about $1,200.
