Construction managers led a tour of Jack Young Middle School to show interested Baraboo School Board members how the $41.7 million addition and renovation project is progressing. Treasurer Sean McNevin and Vice President Mike Kohlman attended, along with District Administrator Lori Mueller, JYMS Principal Dave Schwarz and Associate Principal Brian Bauer. So far, crews have demolished the old commons, gym and ramp and are working on the new spaces and an academic addition, among other parts of the project. Brian Horras of Madison-based CG Schmidt said almost everything is on track, though construction on the new gym is a couple of weeks behind schedule due to recent rain and an issue with “unsuitable” soil. He expects to recoup the time during steel erection. The project is scheduled to be finished by fall of 2021.
