Caden Blum’s senior leap ended with a spot on the All-Badger North Conference team.

The 6-foot-5 big man was the lone member of the Baraboo High School boys basketball team to earn All-Badger North recognition in 2018-19. Blum was an honorable mention selection after averaging 10.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game — both team highs.

It was the first all-conference honor for Blum, a four-year letterwinner who wasn’t a full-time starter until this winter. Blum’s numbers jumped from 3.1 points and 2.4 rebounds per game last year to 10.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game as a senior.

Blum, who will play football for Air Force next season, was a captain on a Baraboo basketball team that went 1-22, including 0-14 in Badger North play.

Badger North champion Mount Horeb was the lone team to put multiple players on the all-conference first team. Seniors Gunnar Nortman and Jason Larson represented the Vikings on the first team, while DeForest senior Austin Westra, Portage senior Eli Considine and Reedsburg junior Will Fuhrmann rounded out the squad. All five were unanimous selections. Westra was named the conference’s offensive player of the year.
