A Reedsburg man faces rape charges after police say he locked a woman in his home and forced himself on her.
Police learned of the incident after the alleged victim’s mother saw a reference to it on Facebook, according to a criminal complaint filed Thursday by the Sauk County District Attorney’s Office.
The complaint charges 21-year-old Alex E. Stolte of Reedsburg with two counts of felony second-degree sexual assault with the use of force, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
An officer made contact with the alleged victim after her mother requested that police check on her welfare.
The woman told authorities she went to Stolte’s home Tuesday after work to meet with him and several of her friends for drinks. When she arrived, one of her friends was throwing up, and Stolte allegedly told the others to drive the sick friend home.
That’s when the alleged victim says Stolte locked the front door and told her to follow him to his bedroom. The woman said Stolte then attacked and raped her. She fled the home after Stolte left to go to the bathroom, the complaint states.
Stolte allegedly told officers that the woman was “falling all over” him while they were seated on the couch. And he denied being in the bedroom with her, or having any sexual contact with her at all.
When he was taken to the hospital for a sexual assault exam, police say, Stolte allegedly changed his story and said that the two had engaged in sexual activity in his bedroom. Police found an article of clothing from the woman in his bedroom, along with marijuana and drug paraphernalia, the complaint states.
Stolte has been released on the signing of a $2,500 recognizance bond. He is due to appear in court April 1.
