Gustav G. Tessmer, 89, of Golden Living Center in Wisconsin Dells, formerly of Baraboo, passed away on Dec. 31, 2015. Gus was born Feb. 7, 1926, to Walter and Ethel Tessmer in Elroy. He grew up on the farm. He enlisted in the Navy and served during WWII and the Korean War. He spent the rest of his life tending bar and working as a chef.
Gustav is survived by his children, Kay (Mike) Strum, William (Faye) Tessmer, Gus Jr. (Tina Olcott Mischung) Tessmer and Kimberly Tessmer; his long time companion, LaVona Adams; his sisters, Lucille (Duane) Reinecke and Anita Myers; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, George; his brother, Hollis; his wife Vi; and four infant brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016, at the Redlin Funeral Home in Baraboo with Pastor Erich Hartenberger officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Military Rites will be conducted at the funeral home following the service. A private inurnment will be held at Oak Lawn Cemetery in LaValle.
