The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office arrested two repeat offenders on drunken driving charges over the weekend.
At 9:24 p.m. Saturday, a traffic stop on North Reedsburg Road in the town of Delton resulted in the arrest of Scott A. Rakowski, 51, of Baraboo. A deputy stopped a red Dodge Durango east of Sand Road and found its plates didn’t match the vehicle.
The deputy noticed signs of alcohol impairment and asked Rakowski to submit to a field sobriety test. He refused and was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, fifth offense. He also was cited for numerous traffic violations. Rakowski was transported to the Sauk County jail. Craig’s Towing removed the vehicle from the scene.
The previous evening at about 6:24 p.m., the dispatch center was notified of a vehicle in a ditch off state Highway 58 in Ironton. It was reported that the driver was slurring her words and slumped over the steering wheel.
Deputies arrived and found a 2011 Hyndai Elantra in the ditch on the north side of Highway 58. After speaking with Debra R. Kohl, 56, of Lodi a deputy suspected she was under the influence of alcohol.
Kohl was asked to submit to field sobriety testing but refused. She was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, third offense, and taken to the jail.
The Cazenovia Fire Department, Cazenovia EMS and Shield’s Towing assisted at the scene.
