The recent legislation passed in Alabama has moved the issue of abortion to the forefront once again. Battle lines have been drawn, and each side is planning strategy for what many assume will be an internecine war of words before the Supreme Court ultimately renders what will undoubtedly be viewed as a controversial and divisive decision.

Consequently, I offer the following compromise: let those women who feel sufficiently informed, intelligent, rational and competent to make decisions regarding their own bodies make their own decisions and let those women who do not feel sufficiently informed, intelligent, rational and competent to make decisions regarding their own bodies let predominantly male Republican legislators make those decisions for them.
