While running errands Friday afternoon, I noticed several groups of elementary students around Baraboo. They were planting flowers, picking up litter, painting, etc.
I knew instantly that these students were from Al Behrman Elementary and they were participating in the school’s annual Service Learning Day activities. Al Behrman was the epitome of the word “volunteer.”
He generously gave of his time and talents to the students and staff of the former South School. Every year, one afternoon is set aside to honor his legacy by doing things to help the community. In this way, students learn the importance of caring for others. He would be proud.
